DOING LIFE BY CHARISMA AND CHARACTER: IT’S MADE POSSIBLE BY THE HOLY SPIRIT IN REDEMPTION! 

“As for you, the ANOINTING [the SPECIAL gift, the preparation] which you RECEIVED from Him remains [permanently] in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you. But just as His ANOINTING teaches you [giving you insight through the PRESENCE of the Holy Spirit] about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as His ANOINTING has TAUGHT you, you must REMAIN in Him [being rooted in Him, knit to Him]” 1 John 2:27/AMP. 

Being CHARISMATIC is a gracious tool in life and godliness for anyone, especially for the born-again believer of God in Christ Jesus. But one’s CHARACTER is the only vehicle to sustain the CHARISMA in doing life and living godly, and to continuously enjoy A MORE THAN CONQUEROR’S life in our REDEMPTION, in Christ Jesus’ stead. 

It then means CHARISMA is of NO PURPOSE, if one is found wanting in CHARACTER. It makes the whole PURPOSE of being MORE THAN CONQUERORS IN REDEMPTION caricatured and laughable. For CHARACTER speaks of ATTITUDE, BEHAVIOUR, INTEGRITY and HONESTY, JUSTICE, TRUSTWORTHINESS and TRUTH and such like, in the Holy Spirit that’s given unto us in redemption. 

“And hope maketh not ashamed; because the LOVE of God is SHED [LAVISHED, SPREAD] abroad in our HEARTS by the Holy Ghost which is GIVEN unto us” Romans 5:5/Emphasis Mine. 

In life, most people are most likely to be carried away by CHARISMA, which unfortunately is not sustainable in the course of time without CHARACTER. Hence these WISDOM NUGGETS are needful for guidance, as I hereby state: 

“The CHARISMA – capacity, talents and the goods of riches, friends, certificates, politics, enterprise and more, may TAKE you to the TOP, but only INTEGRITY, ATTITUDE, BEHAVIOUR and such like, the essence of CHARACTER, will sustain you there with honour and dignity” 

However, to operate graciously and gracefully in life and godliness – CHARISMA and CHARACTER – are ESSENTIALS to DOING LIFE and LIVING GODLY, in order to ensure A MORE THAN CONQUEROR’S life IN REDEMPTION; and the NEED to continuously walk in and by the HOLY SPIRIT is imperative, to APPROPRIATE and ENACT these virtues of CHARISMA and CHARACTER on A daily basis.                                    

The knowing and understanding of these essential virtues are indicated in these scriptural contexts: 

CHARISMA (capacity, productivity and talents) is an act of the GIFTS by the Holy Spirit, written in 1 Corinthians 12:9-12; 1 John 2:20, 27. 

CHARACTER (attitude, behaviour, integrity, honesty and truth) is an act of the FRUIT of the Holy Spirit, as written in Galatians 5:22-23; Matthew 7:15-20; John 15:1-16. 

The Holy Spirit is the PERSONALITY that ENABLES God’s GRACE to activate a genuine CHARISMA and CHARACTER. Therefore, to ensure a genuine CHARISMA and CHARACTER in life and godliness, you need to be BUILT UP by the Holy Spirit through the WORD of God as in the Holy Writ.  

Thriving in God’s BLESSEDNESS through balancing the essence of CHARISMA And CHARACTER makes DOING LIFE and LIVING GODLY in Christ Jesus a COMPLETE GOSPEL. 

SELAH – PAUSE AND THINK. 

SCRIPTURAL THOUGHTS WORTH PONDERING IN CONTEXT: 

“But you, beloved, BUILD yourselves UP on [the foundation of] your most holy faith [continually progress, rise like an EDIFICE higher and higher], pray in the Holy Spirit, 21 and keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting anxiously and looking forward to the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ [which will bring you] to eternal life” Jude 20-21 (Amplified). 

“These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you. 26 But the COMFORTER, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall TEACH you all things, and BRING all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you” John 14:25-26. 

“But the ANOINTING which ye have RECEIVED of him ABIDETH in you, and ye need not that any man TEACH you: but as the same ANOINTING TEACHETH you of all things, and is TRUTH, and is NO LIE, and even as it hath TAUGHT you, ye shall ABIDE in him” 1 John 2:27. 

SUMMARY: 

This message is a Kingdom teaching and charge on balancing CHARISMA with CHARACTER through the Holy Spirit to live a victorious, sustained Christian life in Redemption. 

1. THE SOURCE: THE HOLY SPIRIT AND THE ANOINTING

• DOING LIFE BY CHARISMA AND CHARACTER IS MADE POSSIBLE BY THE HOLY SPIRIT IN REDEMPTION. 

• The believer has received the ANOINTING — the SPECIAL gift, the preparation — which REMAINS PERMANENTLY in you 1 John 2:27. 

• The Holy Spirit as the COMFORTER TEACHES you all things, BRINGS things to remembrance, and gives insight John 14:25-26. 

• “The LOVE of God is SHED abroad in our HEARTS by the Holy Ghost which is GIVEN unto us” Romans 5:5. 

• The Holy Spirit is the PERSONALITY that ENABLES God’s GRACE to activate genuine CHARISMA and CHARACTER. 

2. DEFINITION AND ROLE OF CHARISMA

3. DEFINITION AND ROLE OF CHARACTER

• CHARACTER is the only vehicle to sustain CHARISMA in doing life and living godly, and to continuously enjoy A MORE THAN CONQUEROR’S life IN REDEMPTION Romans 8:37, in Christ Jesus’ stead. 

• CHARACTER speaks of ATTITUDE, BEHAVIOUR, INTEGRITY, HONESTY, JUSTICE, TRUSTWORTHINESS and TRUTH and such like, produced in the Holy Spirit. 

• CHARACTER is an act of the FRUIT of the Holy Spirit Galatians 5:22-23; Matthew 7:15-20; John 15:1-16. 

• Without CHARACTER, CHARISMA is of NO PURPOSE. It makes the whole purpose of being MORE THAN CONQUERORS IN REDEMPTION caricatured and laughable. 

• Only INTEGRITY, ATTITUDE, BEHAVIOUR and the essence of CHARACTER will sustain you at the top with honour and dignity. 

4. THE MANDATE: BALANCE AND BUILD UP

• CHARISMA and CHARACTER are ESSENTIALS to DOING LIFE and LIVING GODLY. 

• There is a NEED to continuously walk in and by the HOLY SPIRIT to APPROPRIATE and ENACT these virtues on A daily basis. 

• To ensure genuine CHARISMA and CHARACTER, you must be BUILT UP by the Holy Spirit through the WORD of God as in the Holy Writ. 

• “BUILD yourselves UP on [the foundation of] your most holy faith… pray in the Holy Spirit, and keep yourselves in the love of God” Jude 20-21. 

• Thriving in God’s BLESSEDNESS through balancing CHARISMA AND CHARACTER makes DOING LIFE and LIVING GODLY in Christ Jesus A COMPLETE GOSPEL. 

5. WARNING AND WISDOM NUGGET

WISDOM NUGGET: 
“The CHARISMA — capacity, talents and the goods of riches, friends, certificates, politics, enterprise and more — may TAKE you to the TOP, but only INTEGRITY, ATTITUDE, BEHAVIOUR and such like, the essence of CHARACTER, will sustain you there with honour and dignity.” 

Most people are carried away by CHARISMA, forgetting that without CHARACTER it will not last. 

6. FINAL CHARGE

God has given you the ANOINTING that abides. He has given you GIFTS for CHARISMA and FRUIT for CHARACTER. 
Build up, remain in Him, walk by the Spirit, and let both charisma and character reflect Christ, so your life becomes a complete Gospel.

“But the FRUIT of the Spirit is Love, Joy, Peace, Longsuffering, Gentleness, Goodness, Faith, 23 Meekness, Temperance: AGAINST such there is no law” Galatians 5:22-23.  

CHARISMA could be defined as the ability to attract, charm, and influence the people around you for a given cause – Plans, Purposes and Pursuits. CHARISMA is often said to be a mysterious, ineffable quality; you either have it, or you don’t.  

The term charisma (/kəˈrɪzmə/; pl. charismata, adj. charismatic) has two senses: 

1. COMPELLING ATTRACTIVENESS or charm that can inspire devotion in others;  
2. A DIVINELY CONFERRED power or talent to make you be what you want to be in LIFE and GODLINESS. 

“And the WORK of righteousness shall be peace; and the EFFECT of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever” Isaiah 32:17.  

It must be noted that the sustainability of your CHARISMA or CHARISMATIC life endowment is by the CHARACTER you exhibit in and through it. Otherwise, it becomes a CARICATURE, COUNTERFEIT, FAKE, MAN-MADE and SELF-GRATIFICATION in every respect of manifestation and operation. 

CHARACTER – THE RESILIENT TEMPER – is defined and applied as the aggregate of moral qualities by which a person is examined and judged, apart from intelligence, competence, or special talents. Strength of character personality applies to an aggregate of qualities that distinguish one as a person mentally and morally. 

And for the BELIEVER in Christ, our CHARISMATIC ENDOWMENT or CHARISMA for doing life and living godly – which is a result of SPIRITUAL GIFTS (endowment) combined with TALENTS – is sustained in grace and in life by the SPIRITUAL FRUIT (CHARACTER) of the Holy Spirit that is GIVEN to us. Romans 5:5. This SPIRITUAL FRUIT that formulates one’s character to uphold the integrity and etiquette of one’s charisma or charismatic endowment includes, but is not limited to: Galatians 5:22-23 and 2 Peter 1:5-11 and Philippians 4:8 and Romans 12:9-21 etc. 

• Love (Charitable) 

• Joy 

• Peace 

• Longsuffering (Endurance) 

• Gentleness 

• Goodness (Virtue) 

• Faith (Faithfulness) 

• Meekness 

• Temperance (Self Control) 

• Patience 

• Brotherly Kindness 

• Godliness 

• Honesty 

• Purity 

• . . . And such like – faithfulness, truth, reverential fear of God and more highlights in various places in the scriptures . . .  

If these things – SPIRITUAL FRUIT (CHARACTER) – abound more and more, one will be able to live and sustain in grace one’s CHARISMA placements in life, without making excuses or explaining reasons to anyone, just as Jesus did in humanity – 1 Peter 2:21-25. 

You are the CUSTODIAN of your happiness. Make your CHARISMA sustainable with an unquestionable CHARACTER. CHARISMA is good and great and it takes you to heights in any field and endeavour in life when in operation. It helps to evolve your uniqueness in life from others. But only your CHARACTER makes and keeps you in your THERE after all. 

Your CHARACTER – is the sustainability of your CHARISMA and CHARISMATIC endowment.

SUMMARY: 

This message is a teaching charge on the relationship between CHARISMA, CHARACTER, and SPIRITUAL FRUIT. It establishes that while charisma opens doors, only character sustains you in grace. 

1. DEFINITION AND POWER OF CHARISMA

This SPIRITUAL FRUIT that upholds the integrity and etiquette of your charisma includes, but is not limited to: 

• Galatians 5:22-23: Love, Joy, Peace, Longsuffering, Gentleness, Goodness, Faith, Meekness, Temperance 
• 2 Peter 1:5-11: Faith, Virtue, Knowledge, Temperance, Patience, Godliness, Brotherly Kindness, Charity 
• Philippians 4:8: Things that are True, Honest, Just, Pure, Lovely, of Good Report, Virtue, Praise 
• Romans 12:9-21 and others: Patience, Brotherly Kindness, Godliness, Honesty, Purity, faithfulness, truth, reverential fear of God 

“For if THESE THINGS be in you, and ABOUND, they make you that ye shall NEITHER be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ” 2 Peter 1:5-8 

4. THE PRINCIPLE: FRUIT ABOUNDING = SUSTAINED CHARISMA

• If these things — SPIRITUAL FRUIT (CHARACTER) — abound more and more, one will be able to live and sustain in grace one’s CHARISMA and placements in life, without making excuses or explaining reasons to anyone, just as Jesus did in humanity 1 Peter 2:21-25. 

• You are the CUSTODIAN of your happiness. 

• Make your CHARISMA sustainable with an unquestionable CHARACTER. 

• CHARISMA may take you UP, but only CHARACTER keeps you THERE. 

• Your CHARACTER — is the sustainability of your CHARISMA and CHARISMATIC endowment. 

5. SCRIPTURAL THOUGHTS WORTH PONDERING

• The Fruit of the Spirit produces a life that is above reproach Galatians 5:22-23 
• Diligence in adding virtue ensures you are not barren or unfruitful 2 Peter 1:5-11 
• Think on these things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely Philippians 4:8 
• Righteousness produces peace, quietness and assurance Isaiah 32:17 

6. CALL TO ACTION

• COLOUR YOUR LIFE IN BEAUTY by intentionally cultivating the FRUIT of the Spirit daily. 
• Examine your charisma through the lens of character. Is it Spirit-led or self-made? 
• Abound in spiritual fruit. Give all diligence to add virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, godliness, brotherly kindness, and charity. 
• Guard your endowment. Don’t let gifts operate without the fruit to back them. Character must lead to charisma.
  Further Study: Romans 12:1-20 — Present your body a living sacrifice and be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
  

FINAL WORD:
God gave you charisma to influence, but He gave you the Holy Spirit to produce fruit that will sustain that influence. Let your life be beautiful, not just attractive.
