THE SPIRIT OF UNDERSTANDING 

THE SPIRIT OF UNDERSTANDING: A KEY TO ENACT AND AUTHENTICATE YOU IN LIVING AND DOING LIFE WISELY! 

A WISE MAN IS STRONG; yea, a man of KNOWLEDGE increaseth STRENGTH” Proverbs 24:5. 

It is true that a man of KNOWLEDGE is a man of STRENGTH; but a man of UNDERSTANDING is a man of WISDOM — the wisdom to live and do life wisely — anywhere, any day and any time, in the grace of Christ Jesus’ stead.  

“WISDOM IS THE PRINCIPAL THING; therefore get WISDOM: and with all thy getting get UNDERSTANDING” (Proverbs 4:7). 

I hereby EMPLOY you EXPEDIENTLY to pray in line with Ephesians 1:15-23 for THE SPIRIT OF WISDOM AND UNDERSTANDING AND THE REVELATION OF KNOWLEDGE, in order to LIVE and DO LIFE WISELY. 

For WISDOM — the product of KNOWLEDGE and UNDERSTANDING — gives life and causes one to SHINE and RADIATE IN GLORY.  

“Who is as the WISE man? and who knoweth the interpretation of a thing? a MAN’S WISDOM MAKETH HIS FACE TO SHINE, and the boldness of his face shall be changed” Ecclesiastes 8:1. 

UNDERSTANDING emancipates and gives complete FREEDOM in all areas of life. 

For until you UNDERSTAND what you claim to KNOW, you are as good as the IGNORANT — UNINFORMED, UNPRODUCTIVE and ILL-EQUIPPED. 

A mere PASSION and KNOWLEDGE take one nowhere until there is UNDERSTANDING of that knowledgeable passion. 

Seek UNDERSTANDING today in the light of the Scriptures, for God will open the eyes of your understanding and give you ENLIGHTENMENT and ILLUMINATION in LIFE and GRACE to ensure GOD’S BLESSEDNESS within you in Christ Jesus’ stead. Amen. 

Therefore, I pray that the eyes of your understanding may be ENLIGHTENED and ILLUMINATED, in LIFE and GRACE, to ensure the needed WISDOM that will give you LEVERAGE and STABILITY in your God-ordained PLAN, PURPOSE and PURSUIT. Amen!  

Herein is the PRAYERLINE of – Ephesians 1:15-23 to appropriate for yourself accordingly: 

“Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, 16 do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in MY PRAYERS: 17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may GIVE to you the spirit of WISDOM and REVELATION in the KNOWLEDGE of Him, 18 the eyes of your UNDERSTANDING being enlightened; that you may KNOW what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power 20 which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. 22 And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, 23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all” Ephesians 1:15-23 NKJV. 

SCRIPTURAL THOUGHTS WORTH PONDERING IN CONTEXT: 

“A WISE MAN IS STRONG; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength” Proverbs 24:5. 

“GOOD UNDERSTANDING GIVES FAVOUR: but the way of transgressors (ignorance) is hard (difficult, rough)” Proverbs 13:15 (Emphasis mine). 

“The man that WANDERS OUT OF THE WAY OF UNDERSTANDING shall remain in the congregation of the dead (unproductive, ignorant and unwise people)” (Proverbs 21:6 (Emphasis mine). 

“WISDOM IS THE PRINCIPAL THING; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding” (Proverbs 4:7).

SUMMARY: 
The message teaches that THE SPIRIT OF UNDERSTANDING is the KEY that ENABLES and AUTHENTICATES you to LIVE and DO LIFE WISELY, because WISDOM — the product of KNOWLEDGE and UNDERSTANDING — is what gives STRENGTH, FREEDOM, GLORY and STABILITY in Christ Jesus’ stead. 

KEY POINTS: 

1. THE FOUNDATION: KNOWLEDGE, UNDERSTANDING AND WISDOM

KNOWLEDGE gives STRENGTH, but UNDERSTANDING gives WISDOM. And it is WISDOM that enables you to live and do life wisely anywhere, any day and any time. 
Proverbs 24:5 — “A WISE MAN IS STRONG; yea, a man of KNOWLEDGE increaseth STRENGTH” 
Proverbs 4:7 — “WISDOM IS THE PRINCIPAL THING; therefore get WISDOM: and with all thy getting get UNDERSTANDING” 

2. THE OPERATING SPIRIT: THE SPIRIT OF WISDOM AND REVELATION

We are charged to pray for THE SPIRIT OF WISDOM AND UNDERSTANDING AND THE REVELATION OF KNOWLEDGE according to Ephesians 1:15-23, so that the eyes of our understanding may be enlightened. This is how we are equipped to live wisely. 
Ephesians 1:17-18 — “…that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may GIVE to you the spirit of WISDOM and REVELATION in the KNOWLEDGE of Him, the eyes of your UNDERSTANDING being enlightened” 

3. THE OUTCOME OF WISDOM AND UNDERSTANDING

WISDOM — the product of KNOWLEDGE and UNDERSTANDING — gives life and causes one to SHINE and RADIATE IN GLORY. UNDERSTANDING also EMANCIPATES and gives complete FREEDOM in all areas of life.

Proverbs 13:15 — “GOOD UNDERSTANDING GIVES FAVOUR: but the way of transgressors is hard” 

4. THE DANGER OF KNOWLEDGE WITHOUT UNDERSTANDING

Until you UNDERSTAND what you claim to KNOW, you are as good as the IGNORANT — UNINFORMED, UNPRODUCTIVE and ILL-EQUIPPED. Mere PASSION and KNOWLEDGE take one nowhere without UNDERSTANDING.

5. THE CALL TO ACTION: SEEK AND PRAY

SEEK UNDERSTANDING today in the light of the Scriptures, so God will give ENLIGHTENMENT and ILLUMINATION in LIFE and GRACE to ensure GOD’S BLESSEDNESS within us. 
We are to pray that the eyes of our understanding may be ENLIGHTENED and ILLUMINATED, in LIFE and GRACE, to ensure the needed WISDOM that gives LEVERAGE and STABILITY in our God-ordained PLAN, PURPOSE and PURSUIT. 
Ephesians 1:15-23 is presented as the PRAYERLINE to appropriate for this. 

IN SUMMARY: 
You need KNOWLEDGE for strength, but you must pursue UNDERSTANDING to get WISDOM. WISDOM is the principal thing because it makes you shine, gives favour, freedom, and authenticates wise living. Therefore, pray Ephesians 1:15-23 and seek understanding continually in Christ Jesus’ stead. Amen.
