WHY YOU NEED TO BUILD YOUR FAITH 

WHY YOU NEED TO BUILD YOUR FAITH ON THE SURE FOUNDATION WITH THE SURE WORD! 

“Jesus answered and said to them, “You are MISTAKEN (ERRONEOUS), not KNOWING the SCRIPTURES nor the POWER of God” Matthew 22:29/NKJV. 

In life you are either living by FAITH built upon the SURE FOUNDATION of the SURE WORD, or you are living by FATE that is built upon RELIGION — [DENOMINATION, TRADITION, SECTARIANISM] — that you do in the name of God, which connotes creeds, dogmas, sentiment and prejudice, bylaws, and man-made traditional sectarian settings that have been carried on and practised over time as spiritual norms and the like. 

The FAITH of God in Christ Jesus is of the SURE WORD, and the SURE WORD is the TRUTH that saves, delivers, frees and emancipates one from the bondages of FATE. 

Hence, FAITH with a SURE FOUNDATION built upon the SURE WORD will ensure and assure the gracious leverage for an ONWARD and UPWARD trajectory in Christ Jesus’ stead, in the face of any challenges that show up in the world. 

“So then FAITH cometh by hearing, and hearing by THE WORD of God” Romans 10:17. 

“As he spake these words, many BELIEVED on him. 31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which BELIEVED on him, If ye CONTINUE IN MY WORD, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32 and ye shall KNOW THE TRUTH, and THE TRUTH shall MAKE you FREE” John 8:30-32. 

“For this is THE LOVE of God, that we KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS: and his COMMANDMENTS are not GRIEVOUS (IRKSOME, BURDENSOME, TASKMASTER). 4 For whatsoever is born of God OVERCOMETH THE WORLD: and this is the VICTORY THAT OVERCOMETH THE WORLD, EVEN OUR FAITH. 5 Who is he that OVERCOMETH THE WORLD, but he that BELIEVETH that Jesus is the Son of God?” 1 John 5:3-5/Emphasis Mine. 

Building your FAITH on the SURE FOUNDATION of the SURE WORD sets you FREE from the enemies and cohorts of FAITH in Christ Jesus, which are: 

• The WORLD — the enemy we SEE 

• The FLESH — the enemy we FEEL 

• The DEVIL — the enemy we KNOW 

• RELIGION — the enemy we DO 

Until you identify these enemies and keep them at bay — especially RELIGION, that subtle and crafty enemy we DO — many have been robbed of the genuineness of the Faith. For while many go on living by FATE thinking it is FAITH in Christ Jesus, they do not know that they have been engraved with religiosity in essence. And there are many who have no genuine difference that is scripturally FAITH-BASED, apart from the sectarian religious differences they hold as to what they do. 

The reason you must live by and be built upon THE SURE FOUNDATION that is founded upon THE SURE WORD, is to help you experience — though not limited to — the graciousness of God in these areas: 

• YOU AVOID HERESY: For a SURE FOUNDATION upon THE SURE WORD will protect against false teachings and teachers, and heretical beliefs that can lead one astray from the faith in Christ Jesus to the fate of the enemies and cohorts mentioned earlier.

• BIBLICAL ACCURACY: For a SURE FOUNDATION upon THE SURE WORD will ensure and assure scriptural teachings that are aligned with the Holy Writ — the Bible — and provide the solid foundation for the faith and the practicability of the faith.

• SPIRITUAL GROWTH: For a SURE FOUNDATION upon THE SURE WORD will give proper scriptural knowledge and understanding that leads to spiritual growth, maturity, and an intimate relationship and fellowship with God; and fellowship with other Believers in Christ Jesus; and in relating to and dealing with life matters and the world about us.

• EFFECTIVE WITNESSING: For a SURE FOUNDATION upon THE SURE WORD will make us effective witness-bearers for Christ Jesus as His true ambassadors and the embassy of God. As ASSURED witnesses, we will be devoid of false teachings and heretical beliefs that can lead both the unbelieving and Believers alike astray in great measure.

• UNITY AND COMMUNION: For a SURE FOUNDATION upon THE SURE WORD will give a clear and accurate, genuine relationship and fellowship that fosters unity within the Christian FAITH community. Simply for the fact that everyone shares a common communion of UNDERSTANDING of the essential beliefs of the faith in Christ Jesus’ stead.

• UNSHAKEN FAITH FOUNDATION: For a SURE FOUNDATION upon the SURE WORD will ensure and assure a scriptural FAITH foundation. Our FAITH foundation in God in Christ Jesus may be TESTED and SHAKEN by the forces of the enemies and cohorts aforementioned, but it cannot be UNSHAKEN or DESTROYED because the FAITH foundation is SURE and TRUE and preserved by the person of the SURE FOUNDATION and SURE WORD — the person of our Saviour and Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

SCRIPTURAL THOUGHTS WORTH PONDERING IN CONTEXT: 

“We have also a more SURE WORD OF PROPHECY; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that SHINETH in a DARK place, until the DAY DAWN, and the DAY STAR arise in your hearts: 20 knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost” 2 Peter 1:19-21. 

“If the FOUNDATIONS be DESTROYED, what can the RIGHTEOUS DO?” Psalms 11:3. 

“According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the FOUNDATION, and another BUILDETH thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. 11 FOR OTHER FOUNDATION CAN NO MAN LAY THAN THAT IS LAID, WHICH IS JESUS CHRIST. 12 Now if any man BUILD upon this FOUNDATION gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; 13 every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. 14 If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15 If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. 16 Know ye not that ye are the TEMPLE of God, and that the Spirit of God DWELLETH in you? 17 If any man DEFILE the TEMPLE of God, him shall God DESTROY; for the TEMPLE of God is HOLY, which TEMPLE ye ARE” 1 Corinthians 3:10-17. 

“Nevertheless the FOUNDATION of God STANDETH SURE, having this SEAL, The Lord KNOWETH them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ DEPART FROM INIQUITY. 20 But in a great house there are not only VESSELS of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to HONOUR, and some to DISHONOUR. 21 If a man therefore PURGE himself from these, he shall be a VESSEL unto HONOUR, SANCTIFIED, and MEET for the MASTER’S use, and PREPARED unto EVERY GOOD WORK” 2 Timothy 2:19-21. 

“Therefore whosoever HEARETH these sayings of mine, and DOETH them, I will liken him unto a WISE man, which BUILT his house upon a ROCK: 25 and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was FOUNDED upon a ROCK. 26 And every one that HEARETH these sayings of mine, and DOETH THEM NOT, shall be likened unto a FOOLISH man, which BUILT his house upon the SAND: 27 and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it” Matthew 7:24-27. 

“The EARTH is the Lord’s, and the FULNESS thereof; the WORLD, and they that DWELL therein. 2 For he hath FOUNDED it upon the seas, and ESTABLISHED it upon the floods. 3 Who shall ASCEND into the HILL of the Lord? or who shall STAND in his HOLY place? 4 He that hath CLEAN hands, and a PURE heart; who hath NOT LIFTED up his soul unto VANITY, nor sworn DECEITFULLY. 5 He shall RECEIVE THE BLESSING from the Lord, and RIGHTEOUSNESS from the God of his SALVATION” Psalms 24:1-5. 

“Thus saith the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye me. 12 I have MADE the earth, and CREATED man upon it: I, even my hands, have STRETCHED out the heavens, and all their host have I commanded” Psalms 45:11-12. 

“By faith [that is, with an inherent trust and enduring confidence in the POWER, WISDOM and GOODNESS of God] we UNDERSTAND that the WORLDS (universe, ages) were FRAMED and CREATED [formed, put in order, and EQUIPPED for their intended purpose] by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible” Hebrews 11:3. 

“Let us HOLD FAST THE CONFESSION of our HOPE (FAITH) without wavering, for He who promised is faithful” Hebrews 10:23. 

“Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, LET US HOLD FAST OUR CONFESSION” Hebrews 4:14/NKJV. 

“A man’s STOMACH shall be SATISFIED from the FRUIT OF HIS MOUTH; From the produce of HIS LIPS he shall be FILLED. 21 DEATH and LIFE are in the POWER of the TONGUE, And those who LOVE it will EAT its fruit” Proverbs 18:20-21/NKJV. 

“You are SNARED by THE WORDS of your mouth; You are TAKEN by THE WORDS of your mouth” Proverbs 6:2/NKJV. 

SUMMARY 
The message is a prophetic charge on WHY YOU NEED TO BUILD YOUR FAITH ON THE SURE FOUNDATION WITH THE SURE WORD. 

It warns that without the SURE WORD as foundation, people live by FATE through RELIGION, and become victims of the WORLD, FLESH, DEVIL and RELIGION. But FAITH built on the SURE WORD — Christ Jesus — saves, delivers, frees and guarantees an ONWARD and UPWARD life that OVERCOMES THE WORLD.

• “You are MISTAKEN, not KNOWING the SCRIPTURES nor the POWER of God” [Matthew 22:29].

• The SURE WORD is the TRUTH that saves, delivers, frees and emancipates from the bondages of FATE. 

• “For this is the VICTORY THAT OVERCOMETH THE WORLD, EVEN OUR FAITH” [1 John 5:4].

• The WORLD — the enemy we SEE 

• The FLESH — the enemy we FEEL 

• The DEVIL — the enemy we KNOW 

• RELIGION — the enemy we DO. This is the most subtle and crafty.

4. 6 REASONS YOU MUST BUILD ON THE SURE FOUNDATION OF THE SURE WORD
   YOU AVOID HERESY: Protection against false teachings and teachers. 
   BIBLICAL ACCURACY: Teachings aligned with the Holy Writ — the Bible. 
   SPIRITUAL GROWTH: Proper knowledge that leads to maturity and intimacy with God and Believers. 
   EFFECTIVE WITNESSING: Makes us assured ambassadors of Christ, free from error. 
   UNITY AND COMMUNION: Common understanding of essential beliefs fosters unity in the Christian FAITH community. 
   UNSHAKEN FAITH FOUNDATION: Tested and shaken, but not destroyed. Preserved by Christ the SURE FOUNDATION and SURE WORD [1 Corinthians 3:11; Matthew 7:24-25].

• “FOR OTHER FOUNDATION CAN NO MAN LAY THAN THAT IS LAID, WHICH IS JESUS CHRIST” [1 Corinthians 3:11].

• “We have also a more SURE WORD OF PROPHECY” [2 Peter 1:19]. 

• A house built on the ROCK stands through rain, floods and winds [Matthew 7:24-25]. 

CALL TO ACTION 

1. CHOOSE YOUR FOUNDATION TODAY: Stop building on FATE and RELIGION. Build your FAITH on the SURE FOUNDATION of the SURE WORD — Jesus Christ.
2. CONTINUE IN THE WORD: “If ye CONTINUE IN MY WORD, then are ye my disciples indeed” [John 8:31]. Daily hearing, reading, and doing the Word.
3. IDENTIFY AND RENOUNCE THE 4 ENEMIES: Especially RELIGION. Purge yourself from traditions that contradict Scripture [2 Timothy 2:21].
4. FEED FOR VICTORY: Let the WORD be your daily food. “DEATH and LIFE are in the POWER of the TONGUE” [Proverbs 18:21]. Speak the Word to build faith.
5. HOLD FAST YOUR CONFESSION: “LET US HOLD FAST THE CONFESSION of our HOPE without wavering, for He who promised is faithful” [Hebrews 10:23; 4:14].
6. BECOME A VESSEL OF HONOUR: Purged and prepared for every good work, built with gold, silver and precious stones on Christ [1 Corinthians 3:12-14; 2 Timothy 2:21].
